Course Outline:

This course is designed to ensure those with an investigation management responsibility understand the role and acquire the necessary skills to carry out the role of the Senior Investigating Manager/Officer (SIM/SIO).

The course is supported by a scenario we would design for you based on the type of investigation your organisation may undertake.

Understand the role of the Senior Investigating Manager
Understand policy files and decision logs
Evaluate objectives, priorities of investigations, decision-making and the rationale behind them
Analyse Power-Case and evaluate the resources required for an investigation
Understand how to develop and implement investigative strategies
Conduct risk assessment and risk management
Evaluate different methods for briefing personnel
Evaluate how to conduct investigations in line with policy and legislation, including the Human Rights Act, PACE, CIPA, PII, RIPA and IPA
Formulate methods to review investigations
