Senior Investigating Manager

Course Outline:

This course is designed to ensure those with an investigation management responsibility understand the role and acquire the necessary skills to carry out the role of the Senior Investigating Manager/Officer (SIM/SIO). 

The course is supported by a scenario we would design for you based on the type of investigation your organisation may undertake.

  • Understand the role of the Senior Investigating Manager
  • Understand policy files and decision logs
  • Evaluate objectives, priorities of investigations, decision-making and the rationale behind them
  • Analyse Power-Case and evaluate the resources required for an investigation
  • Understand how to develop and implement investigative strategies
  • Conduct risk assessment and risk management
  • Evaluate different methods for briefing personnel
  • Evaluate how to conduct investigations in line with policy and legislation, including the Human Rights Act, PACE, CIPA, PII, RIPA and IPA
  • Formulate methods to review investigations
