2025 Conference Topics

The 2025 conference will look at many of the issues that have arisen over the last year or so, with relevant top speakers.

• Jason Beer KC, counsel to the Post Office Horizon Inquiry, will look at many of the highly controversial issues Involving expert witnesses that arose from the scandal
• Kirsty Brimelow KC, Vice Chair of the Bar, is a specialist in criminal law and will give us updates and current best practice for experts appearing in criminal courts
• Bond Solon's Nick Deal, will give the ever-popular legal update covering law and procedure that has changed over the past 12 months
• Lois Langton, Head of Family Law at Howard Kennedy, will deal with private law family matters and Katherine Res Pritchard, also a partner at Howard Kennedy, will look at public law matters

• Dr Jock Mackenzie, a doctor and solicitor, will talk about current best practice for those working in the medico-legal area
• William Latimer-Sayer KC will talk about the important matter of re-traumatisation of those severely injured when having to repeat what happened at the time of the incident or injury
• Mark McDonald, top barrister, who now represents Lucy Letby, will talk about how expert witnesses have been central to the whole case and what lessons can be learnt
• Mr Justice Waksman, the Judge in charge of the Technology and Construction Court, and someone who has been instrumental in the development of the Civil Procedure Rules, will look at best practice in civil courts and what the future holds
• The debate will include a top attorney from the United States against a UK Kings Council debating which system is better in terms of dealing with expert evidence
