Certified Serious and Major Accident Investigator - Level 6 Advanced Practitioner

A qualification specifically for health and safety professionals designed to enable them to manage and conduct robust investigations of serious incidents.

An investigation qualification for health and safety professionals

It is essential that staff investigating serious incidents are able to do so effectively and with the potential legal outcomes in mind to minimise the risk of costly litigation. They should be able to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures proactively.

When accidents do occur, they must have the skills to manage the investigation and secure relevant, reliable and credible evidence to identify what happened, and why.

Bond Solon has partnered with Astutis, the leading training provider for Health, Safety and Environmental training, to develop a qualification specifically for those who investigate serious incidents.

The Certified Serious and Major Accident Investigator (CSMI) is a Level 6 qualification awarded by the International Compliance Association (ICA), the leading professional body for the global regulatory compliance community.

This course is specifically tailored for senior professionals responsible for workplace safety. It is also suitable for those with fact-finding or investigative responsibilities and is ideal for both new and experienced investigators.

The programme is designed to:

  • Equip learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and procedures to be able to manage and carry out investigations to best practice standards, from arrival on scene through to giving evidence in court
  • Mitigate legal, regulatory and financial risks associated with workplace incidents
  • Foster an improved safety culture within the organisation by equipping staff skills to proactively identify potential hazards, mitigate risk, and help to prevent future accidents
  • Create a standardised approach to conducting investigations across your organisation
